Sasha uit Jakarta (bekend uit De vreselijke verhuizing en Marathonin de dierentuin) schrijft in haar derde dagboek. Ze moet een beugelen dat vindt ze vreselijk, want ze krijgt niet alleen slotjes maar ookeen buitenboordbeugel. De beugel doet behoorlijk zeer en staatverschrikkelijk. Maar dan gebeurt er iets waardoor Sasha haar beugelhelemaal vergeet: de werkvergunning van haar vader is niet in ordeen het hele gezin moet opeens naar Nederland om een nieuwe vergunningaf te wachten!
In Nederland is het koud en ongezellig. Sasha, haar ouders en broerswonen tijdelijk in een vakantiehuisje en de drieling moet naar eennieuwe school. Sam en Nick vinden al snel een paar jongens om meete voetballen. Maar Sasha komt er moeilijk tussen. En tot overmaatvan ramp wil Julia in Jakarta niets meer van Sasha weten, omdat zenet heeft gedaan alsof Sam verkering met Julia wil, terwijl dat helemaalniet waar is!
Er is maar één leuke jongen in de klas, Brian, maardie ziet haar natuurlijk niet staan. Totdat Sasha en Brian allebei eenhoofdrol krijgen in de musical. Nu wordt Sasha het mikpunt van dejaloezie van haar klasgenotes, totdat Brian, om daar een eind aan temaken, aanbiedt om tijdelijk ‘nepverkering’ met elkaar te hebben …

Sasha from Jakarta writes in her third diary. She hates her braces. The underwire hurts a lot and the headgear is awful. But then something happens that makes Sasha completely forget her braces: her father’s work permit is not in order, and the whole family suddenly has to go to the Netherlands to wait for a new permit!
The Netherlands is cold and uncomfortable. Sasha, her parents and brothers are temporarily living in a holiday home, and the triplets have to go to a new school. Sam and Nick soon find some guys to play soccer with, but Sasha has a hard time fitting in. And to make matters worse, her friend Julia back in Jakarta is giving Sasha the cold shoulder, because she pretended that Sam wanted to go out with Julia, when that wasn’t true at all!
There is one nice boy in the class, Brian, but of course he doesn’t like her — at least, not until Sasha and Brian both get leading roles in the school musical. Now Sasha becomes the target of her classmates’ jealousy, until, in order to end that, Brian offers to temporarily pretend to be dating Sasha …
